Buca di Beppo | Front Doors

Looking for something different to do for your holiday office party? Why not have dinner with the Pope?

This holiday season, Buca di Beppo encourages you to “bring the whole office” to one of its 87 locations across the U.S. for a dining experience unlike any other!

The Buca chain is known for its big personality — and even bigger serving sizes — and is the perfect place for staff to get together, relax and feel rewarded for their hard work over the previous year. And “no” we’re not kidding when we say the Buca experience includes dinner with the Pope. Buca wants everyone to sit down and share the warmth and hospitality of “The Pope’s Table” — all for less than the cost of a one-way ticket to Rome.

The Buca experience begins with a friendly greeting at the front door and a short trip through the restaurant’s kitchen to the main dining area. Each restaurant is divided into at least a dozen rooms decorated with flocked-velvet wallpaper and covered floor-to-ceiling with a gallery of pictures in mismatched frames – all Italian, ranging from family photos to portraits of Italian-American luminaries like Frank Sinatra and Sophia Loren.

“The Pope’s Table” is one of the more unique rooms at Buca di Beppo. Circular in shape, it features a reproduction of the Sistine Chapel ceiling overhead, an oil portrait of Pope John Paul II on the wall, and a life-size plaster bust of Pope Benedict XVI in a plastic case in the center of a huge round table.

In the spirit of Italian culture, dishes are served family style and are meant to be shared. Each item is served à la carte and includes such standard fare as Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, Fettuccine Alfredo, Eggplant Parmigiana and Chicken Limone. Portions are large and the food is prepared from fresh ingredients and served with flair.

The first Buca di Beppo opened its doors in 1993 in the basement of a Minneapolis apartment building.  The name (in case you’re curious) roughly translates as “Joe’s Basement”.  Buca di Beppo was nominated as the “hot dining concept of the year” for 1998 by both Restaurant Industry News and Bon Appetit and has earned more than 100 “Best of Citysearch” awards and dozens of nods in national and local magazines and daily and weekly newspapers, including “Best Italian Food,” “Special Occasion,” “Best Pizza,” “Group Dining,” and numerous others.
